From Iris City Gardens catalog 1940: BURNISHED GOLD-A deep golden yellow self with a rich orange beard. This Dr. Kirkland considered the finest of the many fine yellows that 'bloomed for him in 1938 and 1939. He gave Mrs. Whiting of Mapleton, Iowa, the privilege of naming it and she selected this very descriptive name. Fine semiflaring shape, tall and vigorous. A rich iris indeed. $25.00
