From Fleur De Lis catalog, 1956: BUTTERHORN (Sass 1955) M. 38 in.((((Aleppo Plain x ((Mattie Gates x (Orloff x Tiffany)) x Jake) x ((Rameses line blend x (A. Plain x Improved R.Pollock)). It seems to us as if this is near the ultimate in the Mattie Gates type. Done in rich shades of icy cream and gilt, it has large, perfectly formed flowers of heavy substance and glittering finish. The petals are broad, perfectly proportioned and delicately ruffled with arched and domed standards and full, well extended falls. The plants are hardy, free with increase and produce tall, strong, superbly branched stalks. H. M. 1955. 25.00 |
