From Glen Road Iris Gardens catalog, 1927: CAMELIARD (Sturt. 1927) This is one of my absolutely distinct novelties--a variegata of Caterina habit over 4 ft. tall. The huge but well proportioned flowers are over seven inches long and are in color amber yellow overlaid with wine-purple on the blade of the flaring falls to within half an inch of the orange beard where it breaks into veins on a yellow ground. It compelled the attention of even the casual visitor. 15.00.
CAMELIARD. Fairly recent, not especially rare, but one of the best and most brilliant light type variegatas. Towering to four feet or more, a clump is a distinctive, highlight in the garden. Standards clear amber yellow, falls flushed light purple, yellow near the edges. One of Miss Sturtevant's best. Each $2.00; three for $4.50 [Cooley's Wholesale pricelist, 1932]
