From Longfield Iris Farm catalog, 1930: CAPRICE (Vilmorin, 1904). Rosy red purple flowers with falls slightly deeper than standards; beard bluish white. Flowers of good form; dependable bloomer. Vigorous. Has an odor of grape Juice. Two feet. Late flowering $0.25.

  • Caprice is a very vigorous increaser. Midseason bloom (peak May 31, 2015 in CO, zone 5). A clump of this will fill the garden with grape scent. Typical is 3-4 branches, 3 terminal buds, 2 buds on other branches. No purple base foliage. -- DebraScott - 2015-05-31
