Keith Keppel, R. 1979). Seedling# 75-83A. TB, height 35" (89 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards sunflower (M&P 9-L-4) touched with golden glow (9-L-6) at base; Falls darker, velvety yellow; yellow-orange beard.

Some want to classify CATALYST (Keppel '80) as intense yellow rather than gold, but this one seems every bit as gold as the others. Regardless, CATALYST seems to have everything an iris should have, with ruffled flowers on widely branched tall, multi-budded stalks. (Kenneth Mohr, 1983. AIS Bulletin, July 1983, p. 35).
