Bunyard's 1929 catalog gives "Celaeno. This fine Iris is somewhat like Magnifica. but the colour is brighter and cleaner. It is very free flowering, and so far has proved superior to Magnifica in constitution. Standards reddish violet, falls crimson violet. 3½-ft. June...each 21/"
