There was another TB Cherie registered by Charles Gersdorff in 1934. See 'Cherie'. (1939 cklist: 160). Its description was TB-M-R7M, ' Ch'enyaun' x ' Golden Heart', never introduced. It was declared obsolete in the 1949 cklist. Presumably the name was released and given to David Hall.

Additional Catalog References: Hallcroft 1949.
From Mrs. M. D. Naylor (Utah), “Varietal Comment, Comments from Region 12”, AIS Bulletin No 123, October, 1951: CHERIE. "I shall close my report with this one. No garden is very happy without Cherie. How very fitting to a great man's work that it should win the Dykes Medal. Those of us who have had the rare privilege of visiting with David and his lovely wife know only too well why such signal success has come to them. There is serenity and humility surrounding these two gentle souls which marks them as belonging to the nobility of gardening folks. May we have them with us for many years to come."
From Cooley's catalog, 1952: CHERIE (Hall, 1947) Most famous of all the new Hall "flamingo-pinks." A large, ruffled, full bodied pink self of excellent form and substance with a deep tangerine beard. The 34-inch stems are stout and well branched; growth is vigorous and increase above average. $12.00. HM AIS, 1947; AM, 1949; Dykes Medal, 1951.
From Ferris D. Gaskill, “David F. Hall, An Appreciation,” AIS Bulletin No. 180 (January 1966): In the year 1940 the cross of seedling 39-62 was made on GOLDEN EAGLE. Mr. Hall in his notes on 39-62 describes is at follows—"very pale lavender-pink buff—very wide and clean haft-good branching—34", may be taller next year." From this cross there bloomed in 1942 two flamingo pink seedlings 42-07 and 42-10. Dave had two other flamingo pink seedlings that year, later introduced as OVERTURE and DREAM GIRL, from a cross of 39-62 on 35-40, but he considered 42-07 and 42-10 better breeding material, and later events proved him correct. By crossing in 1942 the pollen of FANTASY on 42-07 he secured in 1944 the seedling, his Dykes Medal Winner—CHERIE."
