From AIS Bulletin #285 April 1992 Introducing CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS (Hager '92) M and Autumn 32". In recognition of the 500th anniversary (1492-1992) of Columbus' discovery and the opening up of a new part of the world (for better or worse). It is, of course, a blue ("he sailed the ocean blue"), and appropriately it blooms here in late September and early October (October 12 was the day). Here it also sends up occasional bloomstalks throughout the summer. Reblooming irises are "opening up" a new era in the iris world. We insist that the results will be more affirmative.
