From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: CLARION CALL (Tompkins '601 E.L. 38 in. From several generations of (Three Cheers x Color Carnival) x (Color Carnival x Three Cheers) and reciprocal crosses. This line has produced larger and larger flowers with each generation. Clarion Call is a real giant with extra broad petals and heavily substanced, beautifully formed flowers. The perfectly domed standards are pale flesh pink, tinted salmon and lightening to pearl pink along the ruffled edges. The broad, semi-flaring falls are of a rosy ripe watermelon color which is accentuated by a faint lavender undertone and a full red beard. 10.00. |
This slide said to be taken by Larry Harder and labeled 'Clarion Call' Seems to be something else. Please help with a proper identification. Or has the color spectrum been shifted on this image? It's difficult to exactly replicate the color of an iris from a scanned slide. Slide color deterorates over time. This results in slight variation of color…but it is the same iris. |
