From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1954: CLOUDCAP (DeForest) Voluptuous is a good way to describe this super lovely big pale apple-blossom pink-probably the biggest pink to date, with very broad falls of excellent substance, and an extra heavy tangerine beard. Grows very well, and is taller than most of the tangerine bearded pinks. 3-1/2 ft. $10.00.
CLOUD CAP (DeForest, 1950) Each $20.00. This vigorous and husky growing new "blossom-pink" created a great stir when it came into bloom just right for the Shreveport Convention last spring. Probably the largest pink to date, with very broad falls and an extra heavy bright tangerine beard. Free blooming, on 3 1/2-foot stalks. HM AIS. 1951. Cooley's Iris catalog 1952, p. 11

"Cloudcap, seen in two gardens, was eliciting gasps of admiration as the biggest tangerine-bearded pink so far (though Mr. McKee has a bigger one of deeper, if somewhat veined, coloring). It seemed a little amorphous, and no better in substance than most of the pinks; and but for its size would have attracted scant attention. However, a freshly opened flower was not too bad, and it may have more starch when better established." John Dolman, Jr. (Pennsylvania), “From Aldan to Walden and Points North, Varieties Noted in 1951,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 123, (October 1951): 16.
