Color Class-YO4V, Standards moderate reddish brown; falls reddish purple, hafts and edges color of Standards; yellow-brown beard. 'Three Oaks' X (('Bryce Canyon' x 'Prairie Sunset') x 'Miogem'). Merrill 1961. Honorable Mention 1963.

From AIS Bulletin #161, April 1961. Introducing COFFEE ROYAL. Coffee Royal gives an overall appearance of richness--quality--Royal Colors. It is a blend of reddish brown and reddish purple. The standards are garnet brown Wilson 918 and the falls Doge purple, Wilson 732. The haft and a very narrow edge of the falls are the same color as the standards. The beard is brownish with a blue purple tip. Standards are closed and ruffled. Falls flair, then turn abruptly downward giving a jaunty look. Substance good, form wide well into the hafts. Branching good, leaves large, plant vigorous, fertile both ways. COFFEE ROYAL is 54.62A: Three Oaks x ((Bryce Canyon x Prairie Sunset) x Miogem). $25.00. Merrill.
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: COFFEE ROYAL (Merrill '61) E.M. 34 in. Three Oaks x ((Bryce Canyon x Prairie Sunset) x Miogem)). A bicolor blend with stands of rich garnet brown with dusky copper hints and falls of deep dusky purple undertoned copper and washed at the haft and edges with copper brown. Rich and showy. 15.00.
