From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1955: CORSAGE (Edward Watkins). E.-M. (Katherine Larmon x Ola Kala) x (sister sdlg.) A white and yellow novelty. No two flowers and no two petals are ever exactly the same. One standard may be yellow - another white, while the third may be half yellow and half white, or only splashed with yellow; the same is true of the falls. I think it unusual and different and might very well be a break for breeding new and unusual color combinations. Height 24 inches. $10.00 |
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: CORSAGE (Watkins 1955) EM. 24 in. (K. Larmon x Ola Kala) x (Sib.). We are somewhat hesitant about advocating a season or height for this one. The introducer gives early to midseason and 24 inches whereas for the past two years in Sioux City it has been a midseason to late bloomer and has been 36 to 38 inches in height. Nevertheless, early or late, short or tall, this is one we would not be without. There's certainly no other like it and we have found it truly delightful. Pure satiny white with splashes of brilliant yellow all through it. Truly almost Pixie painted, the splashes are applied in a happily haphazard and gay pattern and no two petals are ever alike. We have yetto see the person who having seen it doesn't like or want it. 6.00. |

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: CORSAGE (Watkins '55) E-LM-32". One of the few Iris I would not be without. Nothing else like it; a delight to all who see it. Pure satiny white, Pixie-painted, haphazardly splashed brilliant yellow in a gay pattern; no two petals ever alike. Terrific garden appeal. Regularly $3.00; on $10 order $1.95; on $25 order $1.50; 3 for $4.30. |
