From G. G. Whitelegg catalog, 1921: CRETONNE (Bliss). Strong grower with branching stems, bearing flowers of medium size of a most unique colour. Standards pale bronze-purple, falls rich red-maroon with striking orange beards. The spathes and stem are also coloured with a reddish brown, and the whole plant presents a very striking appearance. The deep reddish purple tone, lit up by the orange beard, at once attracts attention. 3-ft. high.
From Longfield Iris Farm Catalog, 1930: Cretonne (Bliss, 1919). Standards pale violet purple; falls velvety violet carmine; the whole flower strongly bronzed; beard orange. Vigorous and free flowering. Two feet - $0.25.
