From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1963: CRIMSON MANTLE (Victor von Martin 1963) M. Rich and resplendent this handsome red has attracted many garden visitors. The effect is a glowing flower of Ox-Blood red with domed standards that are firmly held by the strong midrib. The broad falls are arched and semi-flaring of velvety red with slight gold venations around the rich yellow beard. The style branches are most attractive with edges marked with gold and the center the same color as the flower. Tall with excellent branching it is most handsome in the garden.
