From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: DEEP SPACE (Tomp. '61) M.L. 40 in. (Consolation x Columbia) x (Down Beat x Mountain Music)) x Dark Boatman. This has large, broad petaled, beautifully formed flowers of richest indigo blue. There is absolutely no veining or haft marks of any kind to mar its smoothness and a bright indigo beard adds to its rich purity. H.M. 1962. NET 15.00.
DEEP SPACE (Tompkins '61) One of the very dark irises that has a predominantly blue tone. Fine in every respect and, like ALLEGIANCE, it is blue. Ralph and Helen Lewis, “Iris from the Carolinas to Iowa and Ohio,” Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 179 (October 1965): 87.
