From AIS Bulletin #217 April 1975 Introducing DEL MONTE (Luihn '75). Sdlg. #71-7. TB, 32", M-L. (Lilac Mist x Azure Lace) X (Orchid Frost x (Morning Breeze x (Kiss of Fire x Arctic Flame»). This frilly beauty has gone under the garden name of "Laced Blend" ever since it first bloomed in our seedling bed, as the name so aptly describes it. The domed, laced standards are a rich shade of Dauphin's violet (RHS 39/2), blending to a darker shade at midribs. The wide and flaring falls are a mixture of the color of the standards and methyl violet (39/1), shading to darker laced edges, and are brightened by a lemon-yellow wash on the shoulders. The self beard blends out to a soft shade of lemon-yellowat the tip. $25.00. Luihn's Iris Garden. |
