1990, Gatty

'Designing Woman' (Joseph Gatty, R. 1989). Seedling S25-1. TB, 36" (91 cm). Early to late bloom. Standards french lilac (M&P 44-H-7 to 44-H-8); falls aster (44-F-7), paling to iris (43-B-5) and ageratum (43-C-3) faintly shaded buff (9-O-4) on hafts; salmon (10-A-7) to lilac white beard; pronounced sweet fragrance. Seedling O19-1: ('Pretty Lady' x ( 'Nefertiti' x 'Playgirl')) X 'Presence'. Keppel 1990. Honorable Mention 1992, Award of Merit 1994.

  • TB 'Designing Woman' was blooming at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately May 29 - June 8, in 2017. It has Purple Based Foliage, that was visible at least after flowering, on the base of the foliage. It look like it has some purple coloring on the spathes as well, but it is light in color. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 15 Aug 2017
