From Milliken catalog, 1932: EASTER MORN (Essig, 1932). The head of the list and an extraordinarily fine iris. The color is pure white with a clear yellow center. The falls are stiff, wide flaring, and of unusual substance. Stalks well branched, stiff, three to five feet high. Foliage exceptionally large and vigorous. A number of nationally prominent breeders who have seen it have all declared it to be outstanding. Trials in Massachusetts have proved it hardy. Both the originator and the introducers are proud to offer it. Because of Miss Sturtevant's enthusiasm for it, we have departed from our established policy and welcome her joining us in its introduction. Awarded Honorable Mention by the American lris Society. $20.00
Easter Morn: (Essig). Rather shy bloomer but when it does a grand iris. [Belsley, Ray J., Varietal Comments. Bulletin of the American Iris Society 74 (July 1939), 17.]

From A Critical Evaluation of Older Iris, A.I.S. Bulletin 110:56/July 1948: Easter Morn is gloriously fragrant of plum blossoms with an exciting, oily tang I can't quite place. Of great substance, the enormous flowers are as white and crisply starched as the wimple of a nun.
