The Blocher name, as with the Hinkle name, is now synonymous with fine blue irises. ELLEN MANOR (Blocher '63) was last year's surprise. With its blooming in '64, we became one of its biggest boosters. It is a delightful blue with plenty of turquoise in its makeup. The petals are delightfully ruffled and curled, which gives it personality. [Ghio, Joseph, “The 1965 Iris Season in Review.” Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 179 (October 1965), 80]. |
