'Empress Of India' (Barr & Sons, 1921). 42", Early-midseason bloom. A selected slightly darker form of I. pallida, smooth satiny texture.

From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: EMPRESS OF INDIA. S. light bluish-violet with a silvery sheen; F. long, lavender- violet; yellow beard. Fairly large bloom. An excellent tall violet landscape variety. Height 33 to 36 inches $1.50
