FAIRY FABLE (Ernst, 1961) Each $25.00. The first introduction originating here at Cooley's Gardens. Larry Ernst, having had access to all of the Iris in our entire collection, including the newest of the Hall seedlings, has produced some very high class things of his own. This one, resulting from Lynn Hall crossed with May Hall combines the best features of both parents. The shade of pink is about midway between these two. The falls possess great width, extra thick substance and are ruffled and waved at the margins. The heavy beard is deep tangerine-red. 36 inches. No. 1-57. Cooley's Iris, 1961.
FAIRY FABLE, the first introduction from Larry Ernst, is a perfect treasure, with beauty in every line. Pink, with a deeper toned beard, it was the most impressive of all the pink iris seen at Silverton during the 1958 Regional meeting, and this year was as lovely as remembered. Wide-petaled and ruffled, it has exceptional substance and, in our garden, produced five large increases. Melba Hamblen, "Honors, Review and Preview", A.I.S. Bulletin 164 (Jan. 1962): 15.

From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: FAIRY FABLE Ernst '61) M. 36 in. (Lynn Hall x May Hall). A real beauty of smooth rich pink of a shade just between the colors of its parents. Large, heavily substanced and excellent of form. H.M. 1962. 15.00.
