FANCIES FLIGHT (Tompkins 1963) E.L. 40 in. (Cool Comfort x Silver Sunset) x (Techny Chimes x Cool Comfort). A tall, very large flowered, medium yellow self, richly, smoothly colored, with broad, thickly substanced, ruffled petals. The domed standards and wide semi-flaring falls are highlighted by a beard of rich orange red, so deep, thick and glowing that it seems to give the huge, delightfully cool and peaceful yellow flower a center of molten, red hot gold. Large foliaged with huge, strong stalks, this is doubly enjoyable because it is one of the earliest and yet lasts through the season. No. 60-33. 25.00. Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1963. |
