From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1965: FLOUNCED LOVELINESS (Austin '61) M-ML-37". Exciting yet wholly charming. The intriguing & interestingly variable floral components vary from simple horns to horns terminating in spoons up to 1" across, & on to petal-like flounces often as large & elaborate as shown in natural color, page 10 under favorable growing conditions, & near the peak of its bloom, fully half of all the flowers will have the adorable large folded flounces such as in photo. By crossing this with other flounced Iris you may come up with a new one that carries the flouncing still further. Abundantly fertile both ways. 49 chromosomes. Happy Birthday X Unicorn. Reg. $12.50; on $15 order $8.75; on $20 order $6.85. |
