Previously registered in 1939: Gallant Lady. TB. Midseason bloom. Color Class-Y4M. 'Matula' X 'Happy Days'. Never introduced. Declared obselete. Name transferred to seedling 4338.

From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1947: GALLANT LADY (Whiting 1947) No. 4338 ((PURISSIMA X MATULA) X WHITE GODDESS) M. 40 in. This is a great favorite of ours and came very near to being introduced at a high price. The flowers are very large, beautifully ruffled, carried on tall, strong stalks. The color is a soft, pastel lavender blue. $1.00 .
