'Gay Orchid' (Tell Muhlestein, R. 1947). TB, 36" (91 cm), Early/midseason bloom. Color Class-R1M, Orchid self, beards tangerine. 'Nylon' X 'Golden Eagle'. Tell 1949.

From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1955: GAY ORCHID (Muhlestein)-H.M., A.I.S. '49. You will love this large flowered orchid colored iris, enhanced by a tangerine beard. Has proven an excellent parent for the "pink" strain. 3 ft. Reblooms. $2.00.
