Note: 1939 Check List shows spelling as Gandhi, however TB seedling is listed in the 1923 Huron Valley Iris Gardens catalog (home of Samuel Burchfield) as 'Ghandi'.

The latest to bloom in this section, S.medium, dark shade of blue gray; F. round flaring, a dark rich velvety purple, shading lighter at margin, Haft, whitish ground, coffee brown at sides; the veining is so wide and close together that the ground can hardly be seen. Styles, lavender gray, red, darker, $5.00.
