From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1958: GOLDEN GLADIATOR' (Jack Craig, Cupertino, California). Midseason. 28 inches. (Lady Mohr x Goldbeater.) The finest yellow oncocyclus derivative I have seen, and surely the best Lady Mohr pod-child yet produced. The big globular flower is a clean Barium yellow self, including the beard. The very wide style arms are peculiar in that they are short and deep within the flower, but at certain angles may be seen. The spread of the falls will easily measure 8-1/2 inches and are extremely wide and flaring. The standards lighten after the second day, giving the flower an appearance of being a yellow neglecta. Golden Gladiator won theRegion 14 seedling cup during the 1957 Regional meeting and awarded an H.C. in 1957.Very limited Stock. $35.00
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963 GOLDEN GLADIATOR (Jack Craig '58) ML-28". Won Seedling Cup in Reg. 14 in '57. Probably finest Oncobred derivative & surely best pod-child yet produced from Lady Mohr. Big globular flowers in barium yellow. Falls extremely wide & flaring, flowers measure 8-1/2" across. If you like the glory of real Oncobreds, you'll just love this one. HC '57; HM'58. Lady Mohr X Goldbeater. Regularly $8.00; on $10 order $4.80; on $25 order $3.20.
