'Golden Zebra' (Sass Brothers, R. 1956) Seedling 51-106. TB, 34" (86 cm). Midseason bloom. Bitone. Standards very deep yellow, near orange; falls deep yellow heavily striped brown. Seedling# 48-175: ('Tobacco Road' x seedling# 43-40) X 'Russet Wings' seedling. Maple Road(Sass Brothers) 1956.

INTRODUCTORY DESCRIPTION(1956):

From Maple Road Gardens(Sass Brothers) price list for 1956: GOLDEN ZEBRA- S. Orange. F. Same color heavily striped brown. 34", $10.00.

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: GOLDEN ZEBRA (Sass '56) M-34". Stands out clear across the garden because of the intensity of its bright golden orange-yellow coloring. On closer examination it is found that the falls are prominently striped in brown in zebra pattern. Nothing else like this one. Lots of pollen. (Tobacco Road x Sdlg.) X (Russet Wings x Sdlg.). Regularly $7.50; on $10 order $4.8S; on $25 order $3.35; 3 for $9.55.
