1956, DeForest

'Grand Teton' (Fred DeForest, R. 1955). Seedling# 52-20. TB, 36-38" (91-96 cm). Midseason bloom. Color Class-Y3, Standards wax yellow (Ridgway), falls deeper wax yellow overlaid sulphine. Yellow seedling: (sib to 'Honor Bright') x 'Cloudcap'. Irisnoll 1956. Honorable Mention 1957; Judges' Choice 1958.

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: GRAND TETON (DeForest '56) M-38". Largest yellow ever created. Flowers measure 7 to 8 inches, falls frequently 4 inches wide. Prevented from being coarse by very wide ruffled petals with excellent substance. A near self in wax yellow with a faint wash of chartreuse. Very attractive, a fine grower. JC '58; Runner-up for AM '60, '61 & '62. Sib. to Honor Bright X Cloudcap. Regularly $3.50: on $15 order 2 for $3.15; on $25 order 3 for $2.95.
