1970, Schreiner

'Grand Waltz' (Schreiner, R. 1970). Seedling# B 778-2. TB, height 35" (89 cm). Midseason to late bloom. Ruffled and laced uniform light lavender-orchid self; light yellow beard. Seedling# T 431-3: ('Orchid Jewel' x 'Crinkled Beauty') X 'Lilac Supreme'. Schreiner 1970. Honorable Mention 1971; Award of Merit 1973. Favorite Guest 1976.

Note: sometimes confused with 'Crinkled Joy'. 'Grand Waltz' has a white "dart" at the end of the beard and a row of dots along the hafts closer to the beard - these are not present on 'Crinkled Joy'.

  • TB Grand Waltz was blooming at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately May 30 - June 13. It has purple based foliage, and has some purple on the spathes as well. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 24 Aug 2017
