From AIS Bulletin #213 April 1974 Introducing GYPSY BELLE: TB, 36-38", M-L. An exciting bicolor of blended shades of plum, violet and rust tones. Upright domed S. are an attractive shade of rusty plum. Wide, ruffled plum violet F. have a colorful border of rusty plum, repeating same shade as S. Much admired in the home garden. Again this year, GYPSY BELLE gave a four star performance. What an iris! Why don't irises like this . . . get the Dykes Medal? Give GYPSY BELLE, with her brown and orchid flowers, plenty of room (like half the yard!).
