* Above entry from the 1949 Checklist was superceeded by newer Hall seedling No. 46-11. Details of this newer seedling were not updated in the 1949 or 1959 Checklists, but we have the Cooley's 1950 catalog reference below. It is this later 'Heather Rose', introduced in 1950, which was awarded an Honorary Mention in 1951, and not his 1940 introduction.

From Iris Test Garden Catalog, 1955: HEATHER ROSE. (Hall, 1950). This is a large, rosy, orchid-pink, but of a different shade from any iris we have seen. The color is new, pleasing and very close to that of Scotch heather. Form, stem and branching are all good. It is a vigorous grower. $2.50. |
