Introductory catalog description from Longfield 1926:

Longfield's 1926 introductory catalog description mispells the correct registered name Hesperis. There are multitudes of synonyms of many registered iris in the 1939 Check List. Some nursery companies were quite notorious in listing wrong names but it was less common to find a new introduction mispelled.
