'Hot Toddy' (Jack Linse, R. 1956) TB, 33" (84 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards chrome-yellow, falls green yellow-ochre, center splashed ruby-red; beard yellow. Seedling# B.W.1: ('Butterfly Wings' x unknown) x 'Pineapple Sherbet'. Easy Breeze 1957.

ORIGINAL CATALOG DESCRIPTION

From Easy Breeze gardens catalog 1957: HOT TODDY (Linse 1957) 33". Midseason. This redhot number is a distinct novelty, contains much Onco blood and may be a valuable breeder—it is untried. The form is flaring with broad falls and domed and overlapping standards and heavy substance. Good branching for the type. It is slightly bitone, with chrome yellow standards and green tinged yellow falls, the whole splattered and splashed with brilliant ruby red. A very good grower and hardy as an oak. From a Butterfly Wings seedling X Pineapple Sherbet, first of this breeding to be released, it is unique and different. Each, Net $15.00.
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: HOT TODDY (Linse '57) E-35". A splendid & very striking golden bronze, heavily splashed with dark crimson. Beard light yellow; falls broad, rounded. Standards well closed & slightly conical. Should be very popular as it is so fine & distinctive. Butterfly Wings Sdlg. X Pineapple Sherbet. Regularly $3.50; on $10 order $3.15; on $25 order $2.95.
