From AIS Bulletin #165, April 1962. Introducing HUMORESQUE (Keith Keppel). Snow Flurry X (Mrs. J. L. Gibson x Stratosphere). Strange. Color? Well one flower may be white lightly stippled violet. Another will be violet lightly stippled white-but midway between it is violet with white stippling overall. Possibly an unstable gene, BUT the characteristic is inheritable in this flower's seedlings. Net $15.00. Melrose. |
From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1964: HUMORESQUE (K. Keppel) Imagine growing an iris that never has two stems with the same color of flowers! That's Humoresque. The flowers on a single stem will be much alike but not at all similar to the flowers on the stem next to it. The color varies from white with a few dashes of violet to a medium violet with splashes of white and everything in between!- and mostly in between. Phenomenally different. An inheritable characteristic too, the pattern passes on to seedlings. 7.50. |
