| IMPRESSARIO (Morrison). This tall bearded Iris is most noteworthy for its grace, size and substance. Moderate in growth, it does not soon crowd other plants near it. Flowers are well poised, on branching stems, branching below the center and widely, the stems flexuous to the extent of adding grace, a well grown clump lasting in bloom for two weeks. Even in the trying season just closed, its bloom stalks were produced in the same degree as in favorable seasons. The flower is long, compact and well balanced, in color a pink toned light blended bicolor (S9L)*. [Chas. E. F. Gersdorff, "Varietal Notes from Washington, D. C.", A.I.S. Bulletin 40 (July 1931): 49.] (* Color Code in article disagrees from 1939 Checklist.) |
