'Interlude' (Henry Sass R. 1951). Seedling# 48-273. TB, 36" (91 cm). Midseason bloom. Color Class-R5, Russet and red-toned blend. (Called GAY HEART before registration.). (('Prairie Sunset' x 'Matula') x ('Sunset Serenade' x 'Mattie Gates')). Sass 1951.

From Sass catalog, 1951: GAY HEART (48-273) (H. E. Sass, 1951)-S. Russet Vinaceous. F. Ocher Red with a small blue blaze at end of Yellow beard. General color effect is a dusty pink blend.36 inches. $10.00. Renamed Interlude in 1952 catalog.
From Fleur De Lis catalog, 1956: INTERLUDE (Sass 1951) M. 37 in. ((P. Sunset x Matula) x Sunset Serenade) x Mattie Gates. Brilliant new blend with russet-vinaceous standards, and falls of bright ochre red with a touch of blue at the tip of the full yellow beard. 2.00
