See below:
From Iris Test Garden catalog, 1955: JANE PHILLIPS. (Graves, 1950). M. This beautiful blue is a child of the famous Iris, Helen McGregor, that won the Dykes Medal in 1949. Deeper in color, but with similar form and substance, it possesses great color appeal. A very clear blue self with well domed standards, arched and smoothly finished, the semi-flaring falls are lightly fluted at the edges. Firm textured and of exquisite color, it possesses that mark of distinction that is a characteristic of so many iris bred by Dr. Graves. This iris has been tested in many parts of this country as well as in England and is in high favor wherever grown. H.C., A.I.S., 1947. H.M., A.I.S., 1950. A M. 1952. 38 in. $2.25. |
From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1964: JANE PHILLIPS (Graves 1950) Each .75; 3 for 2.00. Most experts agree that this is one of the nearest approaches to true blue. A descendant of the famed HELEN McGREGOR, it is a slightly deeper light blue and equals the parent in form, size and poise. Early midseason. 34 inches. HM 1950, AM 1952. Picture page 4. |
