'Karen' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1983). Seedling# H78-79E. TB, 36" (91 cm). Late midseason bloom. Standards smoky pink (RHS 55D); falls violet blue (90C), tan thumbprint at hafts; rusty orange beard tipped blue; slight spicy fragrance. Seedling# 76-27D: (('Fashion Fling' x Lilac Flare) x 'Sugarplum Fairy') X seedling# 76-26A: ('Sugarplum Fairy' x 'Heavenly Harmony'). Mission Bell 1984. High Commendation 1983; Favorite Guest 1985; Honorable Mention 1986, Award of Merit 1988.
Note: There are earlier irises registered as 'Karen'. These are 'Karen' by B. Y. Morrison (1924), 'Karen' by Agnes Whiting (1954).
