ORIGINAL CATALOG DESCRIPTION FROM 1947 MAPLE VALLEY IRIS GARDENS CATALOG: |
From Cooley's catalog, 1952: Pink-toned lilac self, not a pink but a very delicate mauve color of heavy substance. Beard is very pale yellow. There are very few, if any, modern iris which resemble this one in color tone. We regard it as one of the loveliest new things and among Mrs. Whiting's best. Slightly ruffled, very refined in effect. |
|
From Groveland Gardens catalog, 1954: "A pink-toned lilac self. The flower, delicate in appearance, really has tremendous substance and great endurance. Each year we like this iris better". |
From Milliken Gardens catalog, 1954: LILAC LANE (Whiting). A delicate toned lilac self of exceptional substance, with a pearly iridescent over-shadow, which gives an iris of unusual beauty. $3.50 |
