| From the introductory Clarence Blocher catalog for 1978: MADELEINE L’ENGEL (sib to Satin Glass). In a large cross that gave various shades of blue, there was one pure white iris, and this is it. 28” tall, graceful stem, 8-10 large flowers, well placed, the flowers have good substance, nice flare and closed standards. An excellent parent for blues and whites. Crossed with Louis Kamps' Happiness Is, gave us a long row of pure white iris, with much green in many of them. All had graceful stems, beautiful branching. $20.00 |
| Named after author Madeleine L'Engle, who won the 1962 Newberry Award for her children's book "A Wrinkle in Time". |
