From AIS Bulletin #225 Spring 1977 Introducing MAGENTA QUEEN (Marsh '77). TB, 38", M. Sdlg. 70-40. (Lightning Ridge X Harmony House sdlg.). These medium size deep magenta self flowers have a strong tangerine beard. Closed standards; flared, ruffled falls and very good substance. The strong, well-branched stalks carry up to nine well-spaced flowers. It is a good grower and increaser with clean blue-green foliage. It is fertile both ways. It was best seedling in the 1974 Northern Illinois iris show. The judges said it was a new color in irises. $25.00. Marsh Gardens. |
