James Gibson, R. 1976). Seedling# 30-1A. TB, 32" (81 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards magenta rose flushed on cream-persimmon ground; falls dark magenta-rose over rich persimmon-orange ground; tangerine beard; fluted and lightly laced. Seedling# 13-9A X unknown. Gibson 1977.

From AIS Bulletin #224 Winter 1977 Introducing MAGENTA ROSE (1977). TB, M, 32", #30-1A. $25.00. This unusual, dramatic color combination must be seen to be appreciated. The standards are ruffled, laced and serrated. The color is magenta rose with speckled markings on a light cream ground. The magenta stylearms are serrated and laced. The falls are semi-flaring with a rim of the same magenta rose pattern on rich persimmon orange ground. The beard is tangerine. This pleasing rose plicata on a rich persimmon orange ground is a star in the garden or show bench display. Gibson’s Iris Gardens. |
