From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1952: MAJOLICA, Whiting 1952. No. 4634 (MELLOWGLOW 8: LAVENDER AND GOLD LACE). Midseason, 34 inches. Suggestive of Italian pottery is this beautifully blended and patterned iris with its thick substance and glossy texture. The standards are bright buff with a subtle blending of rose pink; the falls are rosy lavender with a neat border of golden buff. The flowers are large with well domed standards and nicely rounded, semi-flaring falls. The strong stalks are of medium height but excellent branching. Plants are hardy, strong growing and floriferous. $10.00. |
