1954, Whiting

'Mauve Queen' (Mrs. C. Whiting, R. 1952). Seedling# 4926. TB, 36" (91 cm). Late midseason bloom. Color Class-V1L, Light-violet self (mauve), yellow beard. (Name transferred from 1951 registration, not introduced.).'Mexican Magic' X 'Gypsy Rose'. Maple Valley 1954.

From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1954: MAUVE QUEEN, No. 4926 (MEXICAN MAGIC X GYPSY ROSE). Late, 30 inches. A smooth harmony of rosy violet tones. By the Wilson chart, mauve, shaded phlox purple with pansy violet flush in center fall. The beard and haft are wax yellow. Large, oval flowers of firm and lasting quality. $10.00.
