From Iris Test Garden catalog, 1958: MEMPHIS BELLE. (J. Pierce 1952). M. (Fantasy x Pink Cameo). An orchid·pink with considerable garden value-giving a very pink effect. Only the highest praise has been given it. Tall stalks show the well spaced blooms to perfection. H. C. 1951; H. M. 1952.$I.50 |
"Memphis Belle (Pierce '52)-Beautiful shade of orchid-pink or maybe rose would describe it better, as the color is deeper than what one calls pink. It's more rose pink. Falls are flaring and nicely ruffled, nice tight stalks, tall well branched stalk with many flowers opened at once. Very much admired by all garden visitors." Region 15, Varietal Comments.
