No. 493 (AURORA DAWN X CAMPFIRE GLOW). Early mideason to late, 40 inches. A rich, golden brown, near self of warm and glowing color. The flowers are large, widely rounded and well placed on tall, strong stalks. MIDCONTINENT has the longest season of bloom of any iris we ever grew. Last spring it bloomed for four solid weeks, looking well every day in all kinds of weather. Onc of of our most important aims in iris breeding has been to extend the season of bloom. All of our more recent introductions bloom over a longer period than any we knew a few years ago, but this one has so many flowers of such lasting quality that we are very proud of it. The plants are vigorous and perfectly hardy. $15.00. | | From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: MIDCONTINENT (Whiting 1952) M. L. 40 in. A near self of rich glowing browr in soft medium tones. Very large blooms with broad rounded petals. This has tall, very well branched stalks with many buds. One of the longest blooming varieties we have seen. H. M. 1953. 2.00. | | | %INCLUDE{"AdmTbInsert"}%<br />--- %COMMENT{ type="bottom"}% -- Main.RPries - 2011-03-07
