MIDWEST GEM (H. P. Sass 1937) L. 36 in. A very beautiful new blend of pink and gold, softly combined to make a fresh and glowing color note. The large, full ruffled flowers are wide and flaring and carried gracefully on a well branched stem. H. M., 1937. R. 92. $20.00. (Maple Valley Iris Gardens, 1938, p. 15).
Midwest Gem is a large self of luminous apricot with straight hanging falls subtly blended honey and rose with the added attraction of gold stenciling around the crimpled edges of the entire flower. (McCombs, 1948).
