From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1963: MILE POST (Tomp. '63) M.VL. 36 in. (((Spring Maid x Far West) x Flora Zenor)) x Self))) x (Cape Bon x Seashell) x Manana. A very bright red of Defiance coloring with brownish hafts and a full undertone of an odd lavenderish Bengal rose influence. It gave us strangely colored tannish pink reds and rich reds seeming to have a pink cast. Grieg Lapham wrote that he had used its pollen on his reds and requested its parentage as he said he was getting some fascinating reds with pinkish influence. Since then others have requested the plant and its parentage to such an extent that we release ithere. Its red children also give dark oranges and apricot oranges and heavy lavenders with reddish beards. Many descendents of this and Password will bloom here this spring . Anything outstanding will be mentioned next season. May prove well worthwhile for those working these red x pink lines. No. 50-133. $3.00.
