This purple amoena won 2nd prize and best commercial variety at the Florence, Italy,1978 competition. The name is Italian for "My dear". |
Bob Mallory's MIO CARO, winner of a silver medal in 1978 in Florence, showed its mettle, putting up eleven stalks on a huge clump and showing good bloom all week. Standards are pale violet, falls dark campanula violet. Comparing it to others, Jim Foresman commented that though it might have a lower bud count, it might ultimately be a better show iris.
